I'm Back and Commissions Open

Sun Mar 19, 2017, 8:51 AM

Hello everyone,

I'm back finally after house sitting for a small week and my computer being in the shop once again. Hopefully this time it will behave.

Marshamallow PC Diagonsitcs: So here's the deal with my computer, and no it's a completely different problem ^^. So ever since I got it back in August, it had this issue where sometimes my videos, didn't matter if it was browser or personal media players, they would get pixelated at random. This would be a warning sign for when my computer completely freeze up. It didn't matter if I was in game, on my browser, or working in a program such as Photoshop or Flash, Marshmallow would freeze up. Nothing would work, alt-tab-delete, none of that, I mean how could it, even the mouse and keyboard were frozen in place. The entire screen was frozen so I couldn't see or do anything. The only way to fix the problem for me at the time, was to do a force manuel restart and hope it didn't happen again. But it was a frequent problem that happened every few days without warning.

Before anyone says "It's time to get a new computer Blissy" um... this computer is bran'spankin'new, I got it back in August 2016 soon after Bronycon of that year. She's not even a year old yet lol!

So I rather then use the warranty on it, and have to wait over a month to get her back, I took her to a local shop instead. Sure I'm spending money but at least I'm getting faster results because heh...well this is my livelyhood on the line as well as my YT channel. I need my computer asap if I want to continue doing what I do. So I took them to a nice local repair store, they were really nice and confident, and have worked with IBuy Power products before, so that's good at least.

They ran their diagnostics, and concluded the ram, or memory, and motherboard are NOT damaged, which means I've dodged the worst case scenario (complete overhaul and reinstallation of everything). However the owner did notice that he was getting 4 "Stability Errors" between Windows 10 and the motherboard, due to drivers not being properly installed. So he did a force reinstall of everything, and he even waved fees away that would normally have costted me over $100, instead I only had to pay $40 with tax for the diagnostic and his time. So for now it appears that Marshamallow is "behaving", but if the problem happens again, then he suspects two things, the graphics card is damaged and needs to be replaced, or it's a combo of both the graphics card and my older monitor, a 2009 HP.

So at this point it's a waiting game but I'm hopeful at least and in fact less anxious!

Onward with commission information!

So commissions are now open! If you were waiting on a commission for me before or were in the midst of contacting me, please feel free to do so again because odds are I'm not gonna remember due to I need to catch up on a few projects. Don't be shy! Just resend me a PM and I'll get back to you as soon as I can! I look foward to hearing from you all!

Keep an eye out for those rainbows, they will make you smile!

I think my PC might be aging a bit. Probably should get a new one soon.

Well atleast you didn't have to replace your computer but it wouldn't hurt to have some backups incase of another problem were happen again at least you got it fixed (good for you!) I did not know it was a year old.

Yeah, if your laptop is less than a year old, I don't think it really needs replacing right away. NOW if it was 10 years old like my previous laptop was after having gone through TWO operating systems, one of them including Vista at the very beginning....it would DEFINITELY be time for a replacement. Hopefully it behaves itself sooner rather than later. Trust me I KNOW a thing or two when it comes to laptops and their issues... ^ ^;;

Anyway, glad to see you're back and I can't wait to see more amazing artwork from you! :3

Well, if it's less than a year old, yeah, don't replace the whole thing.  But yeah, have them double- and triple-check the RAM (as per PrincessSpectrum below) to make sure none of it is damaged or corrupted, and then start saving for a new GPU and monitor since those can run you anywhere from about $100 (for a new monitor or cheaper card, if you buy one and not the other) to $400+ easily (For a high-end card or both a decent card and monitor).

Welcome back Bliss, I look forward to seeing content from you again!

To note, I also had a similar problem myself a few years ago. I took it to a shop and they said the same thing, driver issues and everything was fine. They reinstalled some things but ultimately it never fixed the issues. I actually bought a new copy of windows, a new graphics card, a new motherboard and still my computer would randomly crash. In the end it was one stick of corrupted RAM that was the problem, despite the diagnostics coming back clean at several shops. Luckily, I had a computer depot nearby to buy a nice replacement set. Essentially my computer was trying to think, but when the arms (RAM) couldn't complete the task it simply shut down. Not to say that is what might be happening to yours, but it's something to keep in mind.

Either way, happy to see you around again! I will have my fingers crossed for you.
